Red Dwarf is a British sci-fi sitcom. It might seem rather dull, old, low-budget, inconsistent, and trashy overall, yet it manages to be fun and atmospheric, and might be suitable for killing a few days of your life on watching it.
The story is set in space and in a distant future, with possibly the last human being alive, who lives on a space ship, is lonely, bored, and wants to have fun; easy to relate to, that is. And there also is a hologram of a dead man. Despite that, it manages to be very light-hearted, and is appropriate to watch even with your parents: it should not be awkward – in case if they are alive and you get along with them, at least.
It also has a pretty nice theme song, which may be used to get a hang of what it is about.
